Friday the 13th!

I’ve always had an affinity for this date. I guess being a Jason does that to you. It took me awhile to make the connection,  I think I was in 2nd grade when a classmate explained why everyone looked at me and giggled when Friday the 13th was referenced. Now that I think about it, it’s telling that I didn’t know about the movies at that age. My mother liked to keep me a little sheltered when I was that young. At least at first. I remember when I couldn’t have toy guns… Yeah, that was before my mom left my father and got together with my dad, Mark. Mark was an Air Force Security Police officer, then later an instructor. Military guys, especially military cops, tend to be fans of firearms… Anyway, yeah. Friday the 13th. Ever since I connected with the reference to the movies, movies I hadn’t seen yet and would not see until years later, I have had this sort of lurid pulp fiction type image. I wonder now, decades later, how much of my love for the lurid, the tabloid, the media soaked, celluloid vision comes from things like this one memory.
