My favorite FLGS, Dragon’s Lair in Omaha, NE, was recently the victim of a fire in the building they rented a space in. No one was hurt and the business has now moved into a much larger, nicer building that’s not far from the original. Naturally, they had a fire sale for smoke and water damaged items and we scored big time!
When I first found these loose minis and bases in the bottom of one of the fire same boxes, I didn’t even realize that 3 of them were the same figure in different sculpts/poses. Then I noticed one of the minis in the packages was also one of the same guy, but not unique. So I have 4 minis of him, 3 in unique poses and two copies of him brandishing a sword and kicking.
I’m not at all familiar with Hackmaster, never played it, so I’m not sure what an Elven Blind Wretched Pursuer is, but it looks an awful lot like a zombie to me to that’s what it shall be when painted.
Of course I couldn’t resist picking up the High Elf Sword Masters Command, if only for the comic relief of having 3 coneheads brandishing absurdly large swords!
Game companies like to own everything, hence the “Centigor”. It’s a centaur, man, not a “Centigor”. Seriously, IP owners, please resist the urge to water down our mythology by inventing knock-off terminology just so you can litigate against people who create content in the same damned genres you do! (Ahem, sorry, that was my soapbox voice for a second there. Moving on…)
Also picked up some new and old paints. I think only one of them turned out to be dried up, and the tubes of Vallejo were all $1 so no huge loss there. Very glad to have picked up more gloss varnish tubes and even some matte varnish, which I’m very excited about. I’ve been meaning to pick up some Dullcote for over a year and have not managed to do so, plus I’m almost out of gloss coat, so these were a serendipitous find!
