A new level of painting

Highlights

I owe a debt to all the amazing artists who post their work over on CoolMiniOrNot.com. After perusing the myriad pictures of incredibly well painted miniatures on their site, I was inspired to step up my painting game a couple notches. I painted the miniature below and thought I was done when I started really looking at the paint jobs out there by the real pro painters and so I picked it back up and kept painting it.

I’ve increased the amount of blending by 2 or 3 times what I was previously doing and for the first time I really did a lot more edge highlighting as well as really sharp highlights on the metal parts. All of this, plus just being ultra-clean with an 18/0 brush took my painting to a level I haven’t achieved until now, and yet I feel like I didn’t overdo it. I’ll quit bragging now, just really proud of this achievement.

Other Projects

Not as well painted (yet) is this horn playing Cossack warrior. I’ll be revisiting him, along with everything else I’ve painted, to bring up the level of quality.

Here are some WIP shots of the Cossack flag bearer during painting . I went with the red and black traditional anarchist flag and it would be nice to find some transfers for it.

More hand painted miniatures to come and I’ve got some terrain ideas cooking that I’d like to explore. First order of business is to get rid of the finished pieces I have, so I will have to post a bunch on the shop page.
