Having finished the coffin from the Reaper set 02990; Crypt of the Vampiress I am now finally complete with all the miniatures I had sitting, primed, waiting to be painted. I can now justify priming more and starting a new batch.
I also had occasion to use an odd wash I picked up, Citadel’s Fuegan Orange. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to need this orange wash for, but it turned out to be the perfect thing to wash the pink satin interior of the coffin. It helped out to give that shading and depth you want from a wash without being too dark on the light color of the satin. I used Nuln Oil on the surfaces of the satin for the soiled, old effect but didn’t allow it to pool and dry by removing it right away.
Below are the final shots of the completed coffin with a couple other minis shown just for scale. The runes on the outside are interesting, I have a feeling they say something, if I can figure it out.
Again with the skulls and roses, there seems to be a theme lately. I think I’ll have to put Terrapin Station on the record player and ponder that some till I figure it out.
No, you did not just see the same picture twice. There’s a woman’s head at the ‘head’ of the coffin, and something else entirely rests at her feet.
