Trees, Elves, Hills and MOAR!
New creations include a line of trees. I’ve been using a wire core decorative vine product for the trunk and branch armature. On that I’ve been using reindeer moss for volume and then covering in SuperLeaf scale leaves.
Above is an example of each stage in making a tree, from the armature, to modeling the moss, to applying leaves, to a final finished rock and tree terrain piece.
In the shot below you can see I’m trying a different type of moss that makes another sort of tree all together. It’s much more swampy looking and colorful but poses the challenge of crumbling pieces. It doesn’t want to stay together in one piece like the reindeer moss.
One benefit of this design for the table top wargame or RPG miniatures gamer is that the trunks of the tree take up very little footprint on the terrain surface, leaving plenty of room and visibility for your minis.
These will be added to terrain pieces and aren’t for sale individually, though if anyone has an interest I could make up a batch of them to ship out.
Here’s a quick shot of a hill WIP, experimenting with turf blends and placement.
Below is a set of Warhammer Fantasy High Elves I painted. I pick these up at my FLGS as one-off used miniatures, usually unpainted. I call these guys Coneheads.
