Happy Holidays from Nerdtastic / JST3P.com!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I’ve been slowly but steadily experimenting with various terrain ideas and techniques I’ve learned and I thought I would take some time this Holiday Season to share the progress of the last couple of weeks.
I picked up the Liquid Green Stuff from GW so I’ll certainly post a review once I have occasion to use it. It’s meant to fill gaps and holes in miniatures, so I’m curious what the consistency will be like.
I’ve been consistently impressed with Vallejo paints so far. This Imperial Blue color is beautiful and the paint performs as other Vallejo paints I’ve noted in the past; a clean, thinned, liquid texture that’s smooth and easy to work with. My only complaint is that my FLGS is very often sold out of many colors!
You know you’re a crafting geek when you buy your Elmer’s by the gallon! I picked up the gallon jug and then a $0.89 dispenser bottle from the local Sally’s Beauty (my secret weapon for craft supplies, gloves, containers, etc).
Picked up these bobby files/needle files. The brand shall remain nameless, but suffice it to say I picked them up from the fire sale they’re still having at my aforementioned FLGS as they would have been fantastically overpriced if they were sold at full retail.
Lastly, here’s a couple of coming attractions. These semi-circular brick walls are versatile for table top Wargame or RPG terrain, so I plan to keep making them and improving them along the way of course. (I’m seeing a Hot Wire Foam Factory table saw rig in my future.)
The ugly beast below is now 4 different experiments that I’ve learned from along the way. As mentioned in my last update, I won’t be using the had cut/aged bricks technique any more due to its cartoony/Disneyland appearance. I’m sticking to the tighter, sculpted look I’ve been employing successfully so far.
Tomorrow; Painting and dry brushing! Once again, Merry Christmas, Happy whatever, Praise “Bob”, Hail Satan, merry humanism, whatever floats your boat. I wish love and happiness for all!
